Kingdom Seekers

Kingdom SeekersBut seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  Matthew 6:33

Kingdom Seekers is a group of 15 girls grades 3 – 8, 2 junior counselors and 2 leaders.  We meet every other Monday at the church at 7 – 8:30 pm.

On our regular Monday meetings, we start off with God’s word and our theme motto and verses (verses elsewhere on this page), sing, and share prayers requests.  We then spend the next ½ hour we are doing a devotion booklet called “Wise Friendships” by Rev. Ken & Renee Anema.  We use the last part of the night to do badge work or a craft and always try to fit in a game or two – a favorite is the Green Eggs and Ham game.

We will be busy with many activities all through the year.  The badges we hope to work on are Bible Knowledge, Hospitality, Camping, Paper Crafts, Stamping, and Jewelry.  We have made cards that we sent out to sick and morning members of our congregation and Christmas cards at our Christmas party.  We’ve made decorative poster boards to put in the girls bedrooms to hang up pictures from school, photos of friends and family and keepsakes.   We have gone swimming and skating with our families. We are looking forward a sleep over at the church and our year end camping trip.

Now in order to pay for our camping trip we put on a croquette (special Dutch bread covered meatballs) fundraiser, which is always popular in our church.  The girls have to phone and ask family, friends, etc. to buy the croquettes and help make them.  There are prizes for the girls who collect the most.  This year the girls gathered 396 dozen (a kingdom seeker dozen is 16) and on a Saturday they rolled 6400 croquettes in egg and bread.  They had such positive and cheerful attitudes.  The whole time they worked and sang – we were very proud of them.

“I seek you with all my heart, do not let me stray from Your commands.  I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”  Psalm 119:10-11
